Think about your shot before you shoot

 on July 30, 2015
By Denniger Bolton
The purpose of this book as I see it is to not just snap shots of yourself but capture the shot in such a way as to make it unique, interesting, something that shows your personal expression. In other words to put a little thought into it. Some things to consider according to Brenda Foster, the author, are to practice, take a lot of shots because very few people capture the best shot the first time, don’t overlook the background, avoid restroom shots, shoot from a higher angle and include your best side. I like how she covered some of the apps you can download on your smart phone that will improve your selfies, apps that remove wrinkles, add color and cropping to name a few. Some apps are free while others cost a bit.

… deserve as much attention as paintings because it’s relatively easy to get into photography

Many feel that photography isn’t an art nor should it deserve as much attention as paintings because it’s relatively easy to get into photography. While I do agree to a certain extent, there are several factors the naysayers fail to realize as well. Anyone with an image-capturing device can get started with photography, that makes it fun and personal for everyone. Yes, you don’t need talent to take pictures, but unless your goal was to make photography your art medium, there’s nothing wrong with just snapping pictures with no concern on technicalities nor aesthetics.

This book gives helpful tips on how to take nice and quality selfies on any smartphone. It talks about the different objects you can capture on your selfies, kinds of backgrounds to use and which to avoid, angles and lighting to take the best photos among other topics. I loved that the book listed apps that I can use to improve the quality of my selfies. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who’d like to learn how to take beautiful selfies.

Taking better selfies already!

 on July 28, 2014
By Adrian
My girlfriend is always telling me to take our selfie pictures from a higher angle. She says it makes us look better, though I never saw the difference. So, I decided to find out how to take the perfect selfie. This guide was really helpful and even explained to me why tilting the phone/camera or putting it higher can make a big difference in how your picture looks. Thanks for the help!

Good tips for better photos

My track record with picture taking is not the best. On the occasions that the photo turns out not blurry, I inevitably have a bad angle that makes the picture look bad. Although this book is a quick read, it is an excellent resource if you also have these types of problems. The section on the high to low effect really helped correct many of my issues. If you want to take better pictures, then I would recommend this book.
